The pandemic threw a wrench into several of my 2020 plans, but as we barrel on toward a distance-learning 2020 school year, I have exciting happenings.
In June 2020, I was honored to be selected as the Interim Chapter Lead of the Seattle Chapter of Integrated Schools. This is an organization I really believe in, and I’ve been involved with the Seattle Chapter since it began two years ago. I am excited to get more involved in the day-to-day running of the chapter and to help shape our chapter activity in the coming year, which promises to be an interesting one.
On a related note, I’m delighted to be joining a panel discussion of NYT/NPR’s new podcast, “Nice White Parents.” If you haven’t had the chance to listen, it’s a barn-burner of a podcast looking at school segregation and how white cultural norms around parenting have contributed to it. I was so excited to hear that Kam Yee and Jamie Zimmerman were hosting panel discussions around podcast episodes, and I’m looking forward to participating this week. Click here to join us.
